The Launch of the Halifax City

The Halifax City on the Welland Canal

Burntisland Shipyard completed the 'Halifax City' for the Bristol City Line in 1964. This was a sister ship for the same company's 'Montreal City', which had also been built at Burntisland (launched in 1962 and lost in a fire off Thailand at the end of March 1973). Pictured on the left is the 'Halifax City' at her launch on 17 March 1964; and on the right she is seen in service, passing through the Welland Canal in Ontario, Canada.
